Diplomatic efforts to end regional conflicts in the Middle East appear to be gaining momentum, as Iran has reportedly signaled a willingness to return to discussions with the United States despite ongoing Israeli military operations in Lebanon.

According to reports, Tehran had initially threatened to withdraw from negotiations due to continued Israeli attacks in Lebanon. However, Iranian officials have since indicated that discussions may continue. U.S. President Donald Trump expressed optimism that an agreement with Iran could be reached within the coming week.

Reports suggest that Trump held a phone conversation on Monday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Following the call, Trump stated that both Israel and the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah had agreed to reduce hostilities and move toward a partial ceasefire. Lebanese officials reportedly confirmed the development on Tuesday.

Delegations from Lebanon and Israel were scheduled to meet in Washington on Tuesday, with additional discussions expected on Wednesday as part of efforts to achieve a broader de-escalation.

Meanwhile, negotiations between Tehran and Washington continue over proposals that could extend an existing ceasefire and pave the way for a more comprehensive agreement. Trump said he hoped a deal could be reached that would not only prolong the truce but also help restore normal shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

Earlier, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf warned that Iran could suspend negotiations if Israeli military actions in Lebanon continued. In a message posted on social media, he said Tehran would not remain passive in the face of what he described as Israeli aggression.

Iranian media later reported that Tehran was still reviewing a U.S. proposal and had not yet provided an official response. Sources cited by Iranian outlets attributed the delay to concerns over trust and the need for further internal consultations.

At the same time, Iranian military officials said the country had used the ceasefire period to strengthen its operational readiness. Senior commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps stated that military capabilities had been enhanced during the pause in hostilities.

Media reports also claimed that Trump sharply criticized Netanyahu during their phone conversation, allegedly warning that continued military operations in Lebanon could further isolate Israel internationally. However, the White House has not publicly commented on the reported exchange.

Diplomatic observers say the coming days could prove critical in determining whether the ongoing discussions lead to an extended ceasefire and eventually a broader regional agreement.
