Two Training Courses Launched in Medina Ahead of Hajj

Sheikh Professor Dr. Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz Al-Sudais, President of Religious Affairs at Masjid al-Haram (Grand Mosque) and Masjid an-Nabawi (Prophet’s Mosque), launched two scholarly training courses in Madinah on Friday, 1 May 2026, ahead of the Hajj season.

First Course: Hajj Rituals for Preachers
The first programme, the “Hajj Rituals Course,” was developed jointly with the General Secretariat of the Council of Senior Scholars. It covers Hajj rulings and jurisprudential issues, with lectures delivered by members of the Council of Senior Scholars.

Al-Sudais said the course is part of the Presidency’s work to raise the standard of preachers and strengthen their ability to guide pilgrims, particularly when crowd numbers are at their peak.

He added that the partnership with the Council of Senior Scholars brings together different scholarly bodies under a shared goal: spreading sound Islamic knowledge and clarifying the rulings of Hajj within a moderate, balanced approach.

Second Course: Rituals Training for Mosque Imams
Al-Sudais also launched a separate course titled “Rituals Course for Imams of the Two Holy Mosques,” held at Masjid an-Nabawi (Prophet’s Mosque). This programme is designed for the imams of Masjid al-Haram (Grand Mosque) and Masjid an-Nabawi (Prophet’s Mosque), with lectures delivered by the imams themselves.

He said the course is part of the Presidency’s commitment to grounding Islamic knowledge among imams and equipping them to fulfil their guidance role during the Hajj season.

A thorough understanding of Hajj rulings and the ability to communicate them clearly to pilgrims, he said, is essential — particularly given the scale of the annual gathering.

Both programmes are part of a broader series of pre-Hajj scholarly preparations by the Presidency of Religious Affairs in the lead-up to the 1447 AH pilgrimage season.
