Indian business tycoon Mukesh Ambani has reclaimed the title of Asia’s richest person following a staggering single-day jump in his net worth, driven by a powerful rally in Reliance Industries shares. With this surge, he has surpassed ByteDance co-founder Zhang Yiming to regain the top spot in the region.

According to Forbes' real-time billionaires list, Ambani’s wealth spiked by $8.5 billion in a single day, pushing his total net worth to $88.8 billion and lifting him to the 23rd position globally. Meanwhile, Zhang Yiming stands just behind with a net worth of $84 billion.

The primary catalyst behind Ambani’s wealth expansion was the exceptional performance of Reliance Industries on the Bombay Stock Exchange, where shares jumped by nearly 11.5% to hit a more than six-year high. Investor confidence soared after the company reported quarterly financial results that significantly exceeded market expectations, propelled by strong performances in its oil refining, petrochemical, and telecom sectors.

Additionally, the recent stock market debut of Jio Platforms, Ambani’s digital and telecom arm, has added immense value to his conglomerate. Launching one of the largest initial public offerings (IPOs) in the region, Jio's strong market entry further fueled the surge in investor enthusiasm and bolstered Ambani's overall portfolio.
