U.S. President Donald Trump has said he will know when the ongoing war with Iran should end based on what he described as a personal “feeling in his bones.”
Trump made the remark during a telephone interview on “The Brian Kilmeade Show,” broadcast Friday on the radio platform of Fox News.
During the interview, host Brian Kilmeade asked how the president would determine that the war with Iran had come to an end. In response, Trump said, “When I feel it—okay—I’ll feel it in my bones.”
Despite the unusual phrasing, Trump also suggested that the conflict might not last very long. “I don’t think it will take too long for the war to end,” he said.
Tensions in the region escalated rapidly after the United States and Israel launched a joint military operation against Iran on February 28. Since then, American and Israeli forces have continued strikes on various targets inside Iran.
Since the start of the conflict, Trump has given mixed signals about how long the war could last. At times he has expressed hope for a swift conclusion, while on other occasions he has suggested the duration will depend on military and diplomatic developments.
Analysts say Trump’s latest remarks indicate that there may not be a clear strategic timeline for ending the conflict, suggesting the decision could depend largely on political judgment and evolving circumstances.
The ongoing tensions in the Middle East have already raised new concerns about regional security and global stability. How quickly the confrontation among the United States, Israel, and Iran might end remains one of the key questions facing the international community.
