Brent T. Christensen, the United States Ambassador to Bangladesh, has reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to expanding cooperation with leading American energy companies to help meet Bangladesh’s growing energy and infrastructure demands.

According to a press release issued on Wednesday by the United States Embassy in Dhaka, the United States remains interested in building a long-term partnership to strengthen Bangladesh’s energy security and support sustainable infrastructure development.

The statement said Ambassador Christensen recently held a meeting with Javier La Rosa, President of Chevron. The discussion focused on ongoing cooperation in Bangladesh’s energy sector and prospects for future investment. Chevron currently supplies nearly 60 percent of Bangladesh’s natural gas, playing a vital role in the country’s electricity generation, industrial production, and household energy supply.

The ambassador also met with Steven Kobos, President and Chief Executive Officer of Excelerate Energy. Talks emphasized increasing LNG supplies, expanding energy infrastructure, and utilizing American technological innovation to meet Bangladesh’s growing energy needs. The goal, according to the statement, is to ensure cleaner, more stable, and reliable energy for households and businesses.

The press release further noted that Ambassador Christensen recently led a 25-member Bangladeshi business delegation visiting Washington, D.C. for the SelectUSA Investment Summit. During the visit, discussions centered on investment opportunities in the United States, expanding bilateral trade, and strengthening economic partnerships.

Meanwhile, Brendan Lynch, Assistant United States Trade Representative, recently visited Bangladesh. During his trip, he met with government officials, business leaders, company representatives, and labor organizations.

The meetings highlighted the importance of increasing market access, removing barriers to investment, and effectively implementing bilateral trade agreements to further strengthen Bangladesh-US trade and investment relations.
