U.S. President Donald Trump has called on several Muslim-majority countries — including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Pakistan — to normalize relations with Israel as part of a broader potential peace arrangement involving Iran.
As part of that effort, Trump urged the countries to join the Abraham Accords, the U.S.-brokered normalization agreements between Israel and several Arab nations.
In a lengthy post on his social media platform Truth Social on Monday, Trump said he had spoken by phone with leaders of several countries on Saturday regarding ongoing diplomatic efforts to resolve tensions involving Iran.
According to Trump, the countries involved “should be required to sign the Abraham Accords” as part of any broader agreement facilitated by the United States.
Trump said he discussed the issue with leaders from:
“I told them that after all the work the United States has done to resolve this complicated situation, these countries should jointly sign the Abraham Accords,” Trump wrote.
The Abraham Accords are normalization agreements brokered by the United States between Israel and several Arab countries.
Current signatories include:
Trump claimed that countries participating in the accords have benefited economically and socially.
“The countries involved in the Abraham Accords have achieved major economic, financial, and social progress,” he wrote. “Even amid ongoing wars and conflicts, they have never considered leaving the alliance.”
Trump said the expansion of the agreements should begin “immediately” through Saudi Arabia and Qatar, with other countries joining later.
However, he also issued a warning, saying that countries refusing to participate could be viewed with suspicion.
“If someone does not join, it could be considered a sign of bad intentions, and they should not be part of the Iran agreement,” he said.
Trump further claimed that several Arab leaders had told him they would also like to see Iran eventually become part of the Abraham Accords if Tehran reaches a broader understanding with the United States.
Calling it potentially “one of the most important agreements in history,” Trump said the initiative could help transform the Middle East into a “unified, strong, and economically prosperous” region.
There has been no immediate official response from the countries mentioned regarding Trump’s proposal.
