Representatives of the United States have met with Pakistani mediators at the luxury mountain resort of Bürgenstock in the Swiss canton of Nidwalden ahead of highly anticipated talks with Iran.

The US delegation included Vice President J.D. Vance, Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner, senior adviser and son-in-law of President Donald Trump.

Pakistan was represented by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir.

During the meeting, members of the two delegations were seen exchanging handshakes and holding brief discussions before the start of the broader diplomatic process.

According to diplomatic sources, the talks focused on preparations for the upcoming US-Iran negotiations, mediation efforts, and the framework for future rounds of dialogue.

Formal discussions between US and Iranian representatives are expected to begin several hours later.

The planned negotiations are being viewed as the next phase of diplomatic engagement following the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the United States and Iran.

Officials have not publicly disclosed details of the agenda, but observers say the talks are expected to address key regional and bilateral issues as both sides explore possibilities for broader cooperation and conflict de-escalation.

Further details are expected to emerge after the opening session of the negotiations.
