Around 45 senior executives from nearly 25 leading U.S. industrial and business companies are scheduled to visit Bangladesh toward the end of next week to explore opportunities for expanding trade and investment.
The delegation is expected to hold meetings with officials from various Bangladeshi ministries and government agencies to discuss potential investment projects, trade cooperation, and business expansion. They are also expected to meet with Prime Minister Tareque Rahman, according to government officials.
The announcement was made on Saturday by Mahdi Amin, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, during a press briefing at the Prime Minister's Office in Tejgaon.
Mahdi Amin described the visit as a significant step toward increasing U.S. investment in Bangladesh. Discussions are expected to focus on boosting foreign investment, creating employment opportunities, expanding bilateral trade, and strengthening policy cooperation to facilitate business.
Earlier, Sergio Gor, the U.S. Special Envoy for South and Central Asia, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tareque Rahman. Their meeting focused on deepening Bangladesh–U.S. relations, enhancing economic cooperation, and exploring new investment opportunities.
Mahdi Amin expressed optimism that the longstanding partnership between the two countries would reach a new level, adding that increased U.S. trade and investment could help generate new employment opportunities and contribute to Bangladesh's economic growth.
