The 11-party alliance led by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has announced a protest rally in Dhaka, alleging irregularities and vote rigging in the 13th National Parliamentary Election, as well as post-election violence.

The alliance leaders made the announcement on Sunday afternoon after holding a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner A.M.M. Nasir Uddin. The meeting began around 12:00 pm at the Election Commission office, led by Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretaries General Hamidur Rahman Azad and Ehsanul Mahbub Jubayer.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Hamidur Rahman Azad alleged that leaders and activists of the Jamaat-led 11-party alliance have been facing attacks on their homes following the election. He said the matter was formally raised with the Election Commission during the discussion.

In protest against the alleged attacks, the alliance has called for a demonstration on Monday in the capital. The protest procession is scheduled to start from Baitul Mukarram Mosque in Dhaka.

Azad also claimed that voter turnout was low due to intimidation and alleged that, in some polling centers, agents of the 11-party alliance were forcibly removed during the vote counting process.

“We repeatedly informed the Commission, both collectively and at the local level, about these issues. However, we have not received any satisfactory action,” he said.
