Despite the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, attacks on children in Gaza have not stopped. UNICEF reported on Friday (21 November) that an average of two children continue to be killed every day.
According to UNICEF, at least 67 Palestinian children have died since 10 October, when the ceasefire took effect. Many more have been injured. Speaking in Geneva, UNICEF spokesperson Ricardo Pires said, “This is a stark reminder of the ongoing danger faced by children. Even with a truce in place, their lives remain at risk.”
UNICEF’s latest figures highlight the urgent need for the international community to take stronger action to protect children in Gaza. The agency warns that despite the ceasefire, the situation for children remains extremely unsafe.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian resistance group Hamas has outright rejected a UN Security Council resolution on Gaza’s reconstruction.
On Monday (17 November), the Security Council formally adopted U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposed 20-point peace framework for rebuilding war-ravaged Gaza. The proposal includes the formation of a “Board of Peace” to oversee Gaza’s long-term security and reconstruction.
Although Hamas previously agreed to Trump’s ceasefire and hostage-exchange arrangements, the group has firmly refused to accept the UN’s latest reconstruction proposal.
