Four Muslim-majority countries are set to hold a high-level meeting aimed at helping stop the ongoing conflict involving Iran. The talks, initiated by Pakistan, are expected to include Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt.

According to a report by Reuters published Saturday, the meeting is part of a significant diplomatic effort to ease rising regional tensions linked to Iran.

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said the two-day meeting will bring together the foreign ministers of the four countries to discuss ways to reduce tensions and address key regional issues.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that the goal of the meeting is to develop an effective mechanism to help de-escalate the conflict. He said discussions will focus on the direction of the war, how the four countries assess the situation, and what steps can be taken moving forward.

Tensions surrounding Iran have intensified since the launch of military operations by the United States and Israel on February 28. In response, all four countries have been attempting to mediate between Washington and Tehran.

Pakistan has already conveyed a US proposal to Tehran and has offered itself as a potential venue for talks. Iranian officials have also indicated that any future negotiations could take place in Pakistan or Turkey.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has claimed that discussions with Iran are progressing well, although Tehran has denied that such talks are taking place.
