India’s social media-based satirical political movement, the “Cockroach Janata Party” (CJP), has alleged that its website has been taken down. The movement’s founder, Abhijeet Dipke, claimed on Saturday that the action was carried out because of the Government of India led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Earlier, CJP’s official account on X was also suspended in India. On Thursday, X authorities reportedly blocked the account in the country following a request from the Indian government.

Dipke also alleged that repeated attempts have been made to hack his personal Instagram account.

The “Cockroach Movement,” launched only a week ago, quickly gained popularity across Indian social media and attracted attention for its criticism of the government.

Writing on X on Saturday, Dipke said the group’s “iconic” website had been removed. However, there was no immediate response from the Indian government regarding the allegation.

The Cockroach Janata Party movement began after reports emerged about remarks made by India’s Chief Justice Surya Kant. He was reported to have compared some unemployed youths to cockroaches. Later, Surya Kant clarified that his comments were not directed at young people, claiming instead that he was criticizing individuals with fake degrees.

In protest against those remarks, Dipke launched the satirical movement and named it “CJP,” echoing the name of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The CJP Instagram page has already attracted more than 22 million followers, while BJP’s Instagram following currently stands at just over 9 million.

Dipke claimed that around one million people registered to join the movement within a week. During the same period, about 600,000 people reportedly signed a petition demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

India has recently witnessed protests over allegations of question paper leaks in medical entrance examinations. Against this backdrop, the rise of the Cockroach Janata Party has sparked fresh political debate across social media platforms.
