Under the overall leadership of the MUNA Alliance for Peace and Justice, “Muslim Advocacy Day 2026” was held on Thursday, March 26, in Albany, the capital of New York State.

The program brought together more than 100 delegates from various Muslim communities across New York. Participants were organized into approximately 75 groups, each engaging in direct meetings with State Senators and Assembly members.

During these meetings, delegates presented four key proposals aimed at protecting and advancing the interests of the Muslim community, urging lawmakers to adopt them as formal legislation.

The four proposals included:

  1. Approval of a $150 million budget to expand SNAP programs and ensure free food and nutritional support for low-income individuals.
  2. Official recognition of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha as public school holidays across all cities in New York State.
  3. Ensuring the availability of halal meals for students in all public schools in New York (currently being piloted in approximately 120 schools).
  4. Development and inclusion of educational curriculum addressing religious hatred, Islamophobia, and discrimination.

In addition to New York State lawmakers, several prominent Muslim community leaders addressed the event. Among the speakers were Dr. Jahangir Kabir, Mahbubur Rahman, Delowar Majumder, Nurul Anwar, Abdus Sattar, and others.
