NEWS DESKRafi Shohed, an elderly U.S. citizen and owner of a car wash in Los Angeles, has demanded $50 million in compensation from the government following a violent raid by ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) agents that left him seriously injured.
Shohed, who immigrated from Iran to the United States in the 1980s, alleges that during the raid, several masked and heavily armed ICE agents brutally assaulted him and detained him without medical care for nearly 12 hours. Despite informing the agents about his heart condition, he received no assistance.
CCTV footage from the day shows agents dragging Shohed to the ground, with one kneeling on his neck. During the incident, Shohed repeatedly said he was unable to breathe. The legal claim highlights that Shohed had recently undergone heart surgery and was denied necessary medical treatment, violating legal obligations.
Shohed was released without charges but later hospitalized due to severe injuries, including broken ribs, an elbow injury, and head trauma. The Department of Homeland Security confirmed that five undocumented immigrants, including one who had been ordered to leave the U.S. multiple times since 2015, were also arrested during the raid.
However, officials allege Shohed interfered with the operation and assaulted a federal officer, leading to his arrest.
Shohed’s attorneys argue that the raid targeted specific ethnic groups and businesses and condemn the treatment of the elderly man as unacceptable.
