Iran has put forward a new 14-point proposal aimed at resolving its ongoing tensions with the United States, emphasizing a permanent end to conflict rather than a temporary ceasefire. The plan calls for resolving all outstanding issues within 30 days and seeks a lasting cessation of hostilities.

However, U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed skepticism about the proposal, stating that it is unlikely to be accepted. He argued that Iran has not yet “paid a sufficient price” for its actions over the past decades.

Meanwhile, Israel on Sunday ordered thousands of residents to evacuate villages in southern Lebanon, further complicating broader peace efforts in the region. Iran has said it will not begin negotiations with Washington until a ceasefire in Lebanon is implemented.

In a post on social media, Trump said he would review Iran’s proposal soon but indicated doubts about its acceptability, citing Iran’s historical actions. On Saturday, an Iranian official revealed that the proposal includes reopening shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz and lifting U.S. sanctions on Iran. Discussions on Iran’s nuclear program would be deferred to a later stage.

Although Trump initially voiced dissatisfaction with the proposal on Friday, he later acknowledged that he had not yet received full details. When asked about the possibility of renewed military action, he said the situation remains uncertain but warned of potential consequences if Iran takes further provocative steps.

Iran’s proposal to delay nuclear negotiations runs counter to Washington’s demands. The United States has insisted that Iran must give up its stockpile of more than 400 kilograms (900 pounds) of highly enriched uranium as a condition for ending the conflict, arguing that it could be used to develop nuclear weapons. Iran, however, maintains that its nuclear program is peaceful and has expressed willingness to discuss restrictions in exchange for sanctions relief, similar to the 2015 agreement.

According to Iranian media, the 14-point proposal also includes the withdrawal of U.S. forces from areas surrounding Iran, the lifting of sanctions, the release of frozen Iranian assets, compensation payments, and an end to conflicts across all fronts, including Lebanon. It also proposes a new regulatory framework for the Strait of Hormuz.

The semi-official Noor News reported that the proposal was submitted as a counter to a previous nine-point plan offered by the United States. Although Trump rejected an earlier Iranian proposal last week, talks between the two sides are ongoing, and a ceasefire that has lasted for three weeks remains in place.

At the same time, U.S. military aircraft activity in Middle Eastern airspace has increased significantly, with many flights involving transport and aerial refueling operations.
