England’s World Cup preparations have suffered a significant blow before even taking to the training field, with key team equipment and several star players’ match boots reportedly stolen in Kansas City.

Officials from the England football team said the theft occurred while equipment was being transported from the squad’s base camp in Florida to their training venue in Kansas City. Among the stolen items were boots belonging to leading stars including Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham and Bukayo Saka, as well as official footballs and other training gear.

The incident came just before the team’s first training session under new head coach Thomas Tuchel, which was scheduled for Saturday afternoon, June 13. The theft has created an unexpected disruption to England’s preparations ahead of the tournament.

Kansas City police have launched an immediate investigation and confirmed that two suspects have already been taken into custody. However, authorities have not released further details due to the ongoing investigation.

The Football Association has yet to issue an official statement on the matter, but reports indicate that it is working closely with law enforcement agencies in an effort to recover the stolen equipment.

England had been building confidence during their pre-tournament training camp in Florida, recording victories over New Zealand and Costa Rica. In particular, Jude Bellingham’s performances had boosted optimism within the squad.

England are set to begin their World Cup campaign against Croatia on Wednesday. However, the theft has raised concerns that the incident could affect the players’ mental preparation ahead of the crucial opening match.

Attention will now turn to whether the stolen boots and equipment can be recovered in time and what impact the incident may have on England’s readiness for the tournament.
