Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman, Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir on its sweeping victory in the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections, calling it a historic turning point for the South Asian nation.

In a statement posted on the official Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Facebook page, Rehman declared: “New history has been made in Bangladesh. Alhamdulillah! The Islami Chhatra Shibir (known here as Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba) has won the elections of the country’s most prestigious student union, Dhaka University. The entire panel has emerged victorious with a massive mandate. This is the first time in the history of Bangladesh.”

Rehman emphasised the political context of the victory, alleging that opposing student panels were backed by what he described as “pro-India forces acting in unison.”

He framed Shibir’s success as not just a student electoral triumph, but a symbolic resistance against external influence.

“This victory is not merely about student representation,” he said. “God willing, it will pave the way for a broader struggle—fighting for the rights of students and youth, and liberating the people of Bangladesh from India’s conspiracies. This moment will become a new chapter in the nation’s journey toward development, progress, and Islamic values.”

The Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan leader also praised the Bangladesh interim government for facilitating the polls, calling the election process “transparent and peaceful” despite what he termed “adverse circumstances.”

He specifically commended the authorities for reviving the “nursery of democracy”, a traditional reference to student unions in South Asia.

The statement has sparked reactions across the political spectrum in both Pakistan and Bangladesh.
