The physical condition of Sharif Osman Hadi, who is currently undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital, remains critical, though his condition is stable but unchanged, according to Dr. Md Abdul Ahad, a neurosurgeon at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and Member Secretary of the National Health Alliance (NHA).
Dr. Ahad shared the update with the media through a video message on Wednesday.
He said Hadi will continue to receive treatment at Singapore General Hospital, where doctors are currently following a conservative management approach. Various medical investigations are being conducted daily, but his overall condition remains critical.
According to Dr. Ahad, Hadi’s heart, lungs, and kidneys are currently functioning with ventilatory and life-support assistance, and his urine output is being maintained through medical support. A CT scan conducted on Wednesday showed that the ischemia in his brain—caused by impaired blood circulation—has slightly increased.
Doctors are currently discussing whether another surgery will be required to remove a small remaining fragment of the bullet lodged in his brain. It is also under consideration whether he would need to be transferred to the United Kingdom or the United States for further treatment.
Dr. Ahad noted that it is still uncertain whether surgery at the bullet fragment’s location could lead to further complications. Additionally, physicians are assessing whether Hadi’s body is currently strong enough to withstand long-distance travel. The wishes of his family will also play an important role in any decision, he added.
