The U.S. Embassy in Dhaka has issued a new advisory for Bangladeshi citizens planning to travel to the United States on B1/B2 visitor visas.
In a Facebook post published on Wednesday, the embassy outlined a list of activities that are strictly prohibited under the B1/B2 visa category.
According to the advisory, travelers are not allowed to give birth in the United States while on a visitor visa. The embassy noted that some individuals attempt to travel for this purpose so their child can obtain U.S. citizenship—a practice commonly referred to as “birth tourism.”
The embassy also emphasized that B1/B2 visa holders are not permitted to engage in any form of paid employment while in the United States. This includes working for any employer or business in exchange for wages or compensation.
Additionally, the advisory clearly states that individuals on a visitor visa cannot pursue academic studies that lead to a degree or earn institutional credits during their stay.
