Prime Minister and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman Tarique Rahman paid a surprise visit to the residence of veteran BNP leader and former Member of Parliament Khaleda Rabbani in Moulvibazar on Wednesday, demonstrating a gesture of personal concern and political camaraderie.

The visit took place after Rahman attended a Family Card distribution program in Moulvibazar. Following the event, he traveled to Khaleda Rabbani’s home on Shah Mostafa Road in the district town, where he inquired about her health and well-being.

During the visit, the prime minister spent time with the senior BNP leader and spoke with her family members regarding her medical treatment and overall condition. He also expressed his wishes for her speedy recovery.

Several political and local leaders accompanied Rahman during the visit, including BNP Central Joint Organizing Secretary Miftah Siddiqui, Moulvibazar District Council Administrator Mizanur Rahman Mizan, as well as local BNP activists and senior administrative officials.

Speaking to reporters afterward, Miftah Siddiqui described the visit as a reflection of the BNP’s values of courtesy, respect, and humanity.

“The core lesson of BNP politics is etiquette, respect, and compassion,” Siddiqui said. “Despite a busy schedule and numerous political responsibilities, this visit demonstrates the party’s commitment to maintaining a culture of goodwill and responsibility.”

According to Siddiqui, Khaleda Rabbani became emotional during the meeting and shared memories from her long political career, including recollections of former President Ziaur Rahman and other significant moments in Bangladesh’s political history. She also showed old photographs and memorabilia to the prime minister.

He added that the meeting was marked by an emotional atmosphere, with Rahman offering comfort and reassurance to the veteran politician.

Siddiqui further praised the prime minister’s leadership, saying that having such a leader at the head of both the party and the government was a source of pride and satisfaction for BNP supporters.

Khaleda Rabbani has played a prominent role in the politics of Moulvibazar for many years. She is currently undergoing medical treatment due to health complications.

The visit was widely viewed by local party members as a gesture of respect toward one of the BNP’s senior-most leaders and a reflection of the party leadership’s continued engagement with its veteran members.
