All Labor Market Syndicates, Including Malaysia, Must Be Dismantled: Jamaat Ameer

Opposition Leader and Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued a stern warning, demanding the immediate dissolution of all syndicates controlling overseas labor markets, including Malaysia and the Middle East, to protect vulnerable workers from exploitation.

Speaking as the chief guest at a seminar titled "Syndicate and the Malaysian Labor Market: Bangladesh's Partnership" held at the National Press Club on Thursday afternoon, Dr. Rahman asserted that ordinary citizens and expatriate workers will no longer be held hostage by corrupt syndicates and business cartels. Highlighting that neighboring countries like Nepal, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and Pakistan successfully manage their foreign labor markets without agency monopolies, he questioned why Bangladesh should succumb to unfair practices that inflate migration costs.

Warning that any government complicity or hidden backing of corrupt networks will be fiercely resisted, the Jamaat leader announced plans to incorporate the anti-syndicate movement into their core demands. The seminar, presided over by Professor Mujibur Rahman, also featured a keynote presentation by Barrister Shahriar Kabir detailing historical and ongoing syndicate irregularities.
