UP Elections Must Be Completed Before June 6: Election Commissioner Sanaullah

Election Commissioner Md. Sanaullah has stated that all union parishad (UP) elections of local government must be concluded before June 6 of next year. He made these remarks on Thursday afternoon following an inter-ministerial meeting held at the conference room of the Election Commission Secretariat.

However, the commission could not finalize the exact polling dates during the meeting.

The election commissioner noted that the schedule might need adjustments, and the number of voting phases could be reduced due to various academic exams. Since November and December are packed with examinations, and upcoming months involve Ramadan, January is being looked at as a viable window. The final voting dates will be announced as soon as possible after further commission discussions.
