Iran has called on Gulf countries to end reliance on external powers for security, warning that such dependence is destabilizing the region.
In an interview with Press TV on Monday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said Gulf nations should stop “borrowing security” from countries outside the region.
He argued that the military presence of the United States in the Gulf is a “burden” that brings “nothing but insecurity.” Baghaei accused Washington of using its military equipment and logistical support in Gulf states to advance “aggressive actions” against Iran.
Baghaei also stated that Iran harbors no hostility toward regional countries, claiming that any actions taken on their territory were solely for self-defense against what he described as aggression by the United States and Israel.
Earlier, the United Arab Emirates reported that at least 15 missiles and multiple drones were launched from Iran toward its territory on Monday. The attacks reportedly damaged an oil refinery in Fujairah.
The situation has heightened tensions across Gulf nations, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain, following joint strikes on Iran by Israel and the United States.
